In its annual report, ITC states that sales to BAT rose to Rs 1445.27 crore in 2025 from Rs 1070.96 crore in 2024
Indicating improved relations between the two parties, ITC has significantly grown the sale of raw tobacco to British American Tobacco (BAT) in 2024-25 and has received almost double the amount in advances compared with the year before.
In its annual report, ITC mentioned that sales to BAT rose to Rs 1445.27 crore in 2025 from Rs 1070.96 crore in 2024, marking a year-on-year (YoY) increase of almost 35 per cent. Advances received from BAT in 2025 were Rs 1,689.92 crore. In 2024, the advances stood at Rs 881.77 crore. However, ITC did not share the details around the type of advance in the report.
The major exporter of raw tobacco, ITC, has also proposed to secure the approval of the shareholders to expand the business with BAT in the upcoming annual general meeting. The reports noted that the company is looking to take the approval for raw tobacco export of up to Rs 2,320 crore by 2026-27.
Under Indian regulations, related-party transactions exceeding Rs 1,000 crore or 10 per cent of the annual consolidated turnover of a company require the approval of the shareholders, the reports noted. The company is also looking to buy 30 crore of raw international tobacco from BAT, as per the reports.
Noting that it has been exporting un-manufactured tobacco to BAT for many years now, ITC stated that the proposed transaction will support the growth in business, the reports added.
