KiranaPro, Elite Supermarket Forge No-commission Partnership

The no-commission model enables Elite Supermarket to fully retain its earnings by eliminating any sort of platform commissions

In an effort to make digital commerce more viable and equitable for regional shops, KiranaPro, an artificial intelligence (AI) powered ONDC integrated quick commerce platform, has entered into a no-commission partnership with Elite Supermarket, a player in the retail sector.

The no-commission model enables Elite Supermarket to fully retain its earnings by eliminating any sort of platform commissions. The no-commission model addresses the challenge of high commission fees, which have traditionally ranged from three to five per cent. The removal of this fee allows Elite Supermarket to offer more competitive pricing, improve operational efficiency.

“This zero-commission model will drive the digital transformation of local businesses throughout the country. Elite Supermarket was where many of us from Thrissur first experienced modern retail, and to now join hands with them feels like coming full circle,” stated Deepak Ravindran, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KiranaPro.

As per the official statement, the seven million existing Kirana stores will benefit from this once the zero-commission model is integrated into India’s retail ecosystem. By demonstrating the viability of a no-commission model, KiranaPro and Elite Supermarket aim to inspire widespread adoption, fostering a more equitable digital commerce environment.

“Partnering with KiranaPro opens up a powerful new channel for Elite Supermarket to serve our existing customers and reach new ones while staying true to our roots. As two companies born in Thrissur, Elite and KiranaPro share not just geography but a commitment to community and innovation. We are excited to partner with them and lead this new chapter in retail innovation,” stated Raj Krishnan, Director of Elite Supermarket.

KiranaPro is set to replicate this model with other retailers across various regions, which will help drive digital adoption and ensure the digital transformation of India’s retail landscape, the company added in its statement.
