Reliance Consumer To Invest Upto Rs 8,000 Cr In Soft Drinks Biz: Reports

The company is looking to step up its game to challenge Coca-Cola and PepsiCo as well as the regional brands

In an effort to expand the capacity of Campa and other beverage brands in its portfolio, Reliance Consumer Products or RCPL is set to invest upto Rs 8,000 crore, as per the media reports. This investment is aimed at establishing 10 to 12 new plants.

The reports noted that the company is adding nearly 10 to 12 new greenfield and co-packing plants. Reliance Consumer Products is looking to step up its game to challenge Coca-Cola and PepsiCo as well as the regional brands. The reports added that the proposed investment is the largest by the company so far.

Aimed at catering to the northeast region and to manufacture soft drinks and water, the company established a plant in Guwahati in February, as per the reports, which added that another facility is coming up in Bihar.

RCPL is eyeing to ensure that its consumer portfolio is available across the country by March 2027, with around 70 per cent availability for categories like beverages by March next year, the reports pointed out.

The reports emphasised that the company recently joined hands with former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan to co-create, produce and sell spinner sports drinks at a price lower than its rivals. As per the reports, the Campa and other beverages are currently manufactured in 18 plants.

To gain a larger share of the market, the company has strategically priced its juice, sports, cola, hydration drinks at about 20 to 40 per cent lower than major rivals in the segments, the reports noted. As far as the ongoing summer season is concerned, the reports have indicated that early onset of monsoon and unseasonal rains have taken a toll on the business of the companies.
