The development follows the stepping down of Naveen Tahilyani from the role of Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in May
As part of its plan to up the company’s business expertise, Tata Sons has appointed Indian Hotels Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Puneet Chhatwal and Tata Consumer CEO Sunil D’Souza to Tata Digital board, as per the media reports.
The development follows the stepping down of Naveen Tahilyani from the role of Managing Director (MD) and CEO in May. Apart from this, the reports noted that Ankur Verma has been appointed as the acting Chairman of Croma. Until a new CEO is named, Tata Digital will function as a board-managed company, the reports stated.
The delay in the appointment was due to the crisis led by the recent Air India crash, as per the reports, which further mentioned that the appointment of Chhatwal and D’Souza is likely to bring consumer and commercial depth to the business, as the feedback indicated that the firm had too many finance-focused members.
The reports added that after being appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Aarthi Subramanian left the Tata Digital board. The reports mentioned that since businesses under Tata Digital are run independently by their CEOs, they do not need a Tata Digital CEO on an urgent basis.
Online retailer Bigbasket, fashion commerce segment Tata Cliq, electronics retailer Croma and epharmacy 1mg form the portfolio of Tata Digital, the reports pointed out.
