GeM Crosses Rs 20 Lakh Cr In Merchandise Value

Goyal Assures Stable Food Prices, Highlights Govt's Track Record

The government procurement platform has recorded 3.78 crore orders, with MSEs accounting for 45.6 per cent of cumulative GMV since inception

Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has recorded Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of more than Rs 1.55 lakh crore, compared with Rs 422 crore a decade ago. The platform has enabled government procurement to move towards an end-to-end digital marketplace across the country.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said GeM has transformed public procurement over the past ten years. He said the platform has enhanced competition, improved price discovery, reduced procurement cycle times and strengthened accountability through digital procurement.

As of August 7, 2026, cumulative GMV on GeM had crossed Rs 20 lakh crore since inception, with more than 3.78 crore orders recorded. The platform currently has over 12.28 lakh Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) registered, including more than 2.25 lakh women-led MSEs.

MSEs Contribute 45.6 Per Cent Of GMV
MSEs have accounted for more than Rs 9 lakh crore in fulfilled orders on the platform, representing 45.6 per cent of cumulative GMV. More than 69,000 SC/ST-owned MSEs have also completed orders valued at over Rs 23,000 crore.
Women-led MSEs have executed more than 50 lakh orders worth over Rs 99,800 crore. Meanwhile, more than 42,000 startups registered on GeM have fulfilled orders with a combined GMV of over Rs 65,900 crore.
GeM’s Startup Runway feature showcases products from Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT)-recognised startups across 13 product categories. The platform has also created more than 600 product categories under the One District One Product (ODOP) GeM Bazar.

Goyal said the marketplace has made government markets more accessible to MSEs, startups, women entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups, artisans and weavers. He also linked these efforts to the government’s focus on Vocal for Local and Make in India.

GeM Sahay Registers 25,000 Users
The GeM Sahay initiative, which provides collateral-free working capital financing against active purchase orders for MSEs, has registered more than 25,000 users. The initiative is aimed at providing working capital access to MSEs against their active government purchase orders.

Goyal said GeM is emerging as a key driver of self-reliance while strengthening the foundation of Viksit Bharat. He said the platform’s growth over the past decade has changed the rules of public procurement through digital processes.
