‘India on the Move 2025’ maps shifting consumption, logistics intensity and the rise of Tier-2 markets
Blue Dart Express, South Asia’s leading express air and integrated logistics provider and part of the DHL Group, has unveiled its first-ever annual delivery trends report titled India on the Move 2025, offering a comprehensive snapshot of how the country shipped, consumed and scaled through the year.
The report moves beyond conventional logistics metrics to capture the moments that defined India’s movement in 2025—from time-critical medicines and vaccines to fast-scaling businesses and everyday essentials travelling longer distances at greater speed. According to Blue Dart, the findings point to a structural shift in shipping behaviour, driven by digital adoption, decentralised demand and rising expectations of speed and reliability.
Operational data highlighted July 2025 as the busiest single day of the year, with more than 14,000 tonnes of consignments moving across the country within 24 hours. In addition to peak moments, the network witnessed sustained surges, with 20 days recording shipment volumes at more than double the daily average, reflecting festival-like intensity becoming a recurring norm rather than an exception.
Security remained central to operations, with 47 million secured parcels delivered safely during the year, supporting sensitive financial, commercial and personal shipments nationwide. Blue Dart’s road network alone covered over two billion kilometres in 2025, supported by 399,000 square metres of logistics infrastructure operating round the clock.
The report also underscored the company’s ability to deliver under extreme conditions. Leh in Ladakh, at an altitude of 3,500 metres, remained the highest delivery point serviced, while one of the coldest consignments transported involved liquid nitrogen at –196°C for veterinary vaccines. Blue Dart’s specialised capabilities enabled the movement of critical healthcare shipments, including insulin and medicines maintained at 2–8°C, blood and plasma at –80°C, dry-ice-enabled cell and gene therapies, and heart valves requiring stable ambient conditions.
Digitisation continued to reshape access to logistics services. In 2025, Blue Dart recorded its fastest digital account activation in just 90 seconds, allowing businesses to onboard and begin shipping through a fully paperless process almost instantly.
A defining trend identified in the report was the rapid growth of Tier-2 cities, which recorded a 60 per cent surge and accounted for more than half of new customer activations and shipment growth. The rise of SMEs, D2C brands and digitally enabled entrepreneurs in these markets is emerging as a key driver of India’s next phase of logistics demand.
People and experience continued to underpin network reliability. As of 2025, 626 Blue Dart employees have completed over 25 years of service, representing a cumulative 15,650 years of organisational experience, reinforcing operational continuity at national scale.
With cold-chain volumes rising, onboarding becoming near-instant and new demand corridors emerging beyond metros, India on the Move 2025 offers a forward-looking view of how India will ship, shop and scale in the years ahead. Blue Dart said the insights reaffirm its commitment to building a logistics network focused on reliability, precision and reach, while supporting India’s economic momentum and connecting businesses and communities across even the most remote regions.
