Apple's Non-iPhone Shipments Likely To Decline In India, Despite Strong iPhone Demand

As the year ends, industry analysts and retailers predict a lower shipment for Apple devices like Macs, iPads, AirPods and smartwatches in India even after the tech giant’s iPhone demand continues to surge, according to a media report on Thursday.

The report underlined that Mac shipments will likely fall between 15 per cent and 18 per cent in calendar 2023 and iPad shipments might contract 6 per cent to 8 per cent. Subsequently, it stressed shipments of AirPods and Apple Watches will be more than halve this year.

Furthermore, it was not examined if this is the first time that all Apple devices, except the iPhone, will see a decline in shipments.

Apple had not officially commented on the estimated shipment decline.

The iPhone, in contrast, is set to end the year with a 50 per cent increase in shipments, at a time when the overall smartphone industry could decline by 2 per cent.

Taking the 152 million total smartphone shipments in CY22 as the base, it was found that total shipments might settle near 149 million. Of this, 6 per cent will be iPhones at about 8.9 million units. In 2022, iPhone shipments were expected to have just crossed the 7 million mark.

Meanwhile, according to analysts and retailers, the biggest hindrance to growth in the sale of non-iPhone devices is their prices.
