Taiwanese chipmaker Foxconn has registered strong year-end holiday sales and said customers were buying well in China and the United States. The company’s sales stood positive for the same season last year.

The fourth quarter is traditionally the busiest season for Foxconn as the race is to supply smartphones, tablets and other electronics to major vendors such as Apple for the year-end holiday period in Western markets.

Emphasising on the peak sales, Foxconn’s official statement read that “the second half of the year will ramp up sequentially, for consumer tech products, operations sticking to our outlook given last month.”

The chipmaker added, “a significant growth outlook in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter remains unchanged.”

Meanwhile, Foxconn’s revenue last month stood at USD 23.09 billion, the second highest ever for October, down 4.56 per cent year-on-year, coming off a high base and up 12.2 per cent from September. The company’s revenue from smart consumer electronics products, including smartphones, also showcased higher month-on-month growth as new products drove demand, ahead of China’s Singles Day shopping event this month and Thanksgiving holidays in the United States, as per reports.

Formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, Foxconn is Apple’s biggest iPhone assembler.
