India's Mobile Phone Exports Almost Double To Rs 45,700 Cr Till August 2023

The export of mobile phones from India almost increased by 100 per cent to around Rs 45,700 crore till August of the current financial year, as estimated by industry body ICEA.

According to ICEA, the mobile phone export from India between April-August 2023 was around Rs 24,850 crore.

Apple exported mobile phones worth more than Rs 23,000 crore, hence accounting for slightly over half of the total export, the news agency PTI reported. 

Commenting on the overall mobile phone export, ICEA Chairman Pankaj Mohindroo told PTI that mobile phone exports from India continue to defy this trend of muted global trade by witnessing an impressive surge of over 80 per cent.

According to ICEA estimates, mobile phone exports from India have doubled to surpass Rs 90,000 crore, about USD 11.12 billion, in the financial year (FY) 2022-23, from Rs 45,000 crore in FY22.

The government expects mobile phone players to export devices worth Rs 1 lakh crore this year.

The government aims to achieve USD 300 billion worth of electronics manufacturing by 2025-26, with USD 120 billion expected to come from exports. Mobile phones are anticipated to contribute more than USD 50 billion in exports by 2025-26.
