Realme, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, said it has shipped over 200 million phones since its inception just over five years ago.
According to the company’s data, most of these shipments were out of China, indicating that Realme is the fifth fastest smartphone maker to reach this significant milestone.
BBK Electronics, the Chinese consumer who owns brands, including Realme, Oppo and Vivo achieved the 200 million shipments in its second quarter.
According to market analytics firm Counterpoint Research, only four companies, namely Vivo, Huawei, Samsung and Apple, have surpassed Realme in shipping 200 million units in a shorter time frame.
Globally, a total of only 14 companies have managed to ship over 200 million phones to date.
” We came into existence when there were over 700 smartphone brands in the world,” said Xu Qi, Realme’s chief marketing officer. Adding, “We are extremely proud that we have been able to be in the world’s top 10 brands for the past five years.”
Counterpoint Research reports a significant decline in the number of phone brands, from over 700 in 2017 to approximately 250 as of September.
According to Xu, Realme is prepared to enter the premium phone market with the upcoming launch of the Realme GT 5 Pro.
Notably, Xiaomi has also entered the premium phone segment with the recent release of the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which also boasts the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
