Tricolour merchandise and record-breaking iPhone 16 deal highlight Tata enterprise’s blend of pride and convenience
Bigbasket, a Tata enterprise, recorded a 42 per cent jump in patriotic merchandise sales during Independence Day 2025, as customers embraced national pride alongside the platform’s ultra-fast 10-minute delivery service. From tricolour stoles and dupattas to flags, badges, caps and wristbands, demand surged across categories, reflecting the spirit of unity and celebration.
Sales of tricolour stoles and dupattas rose 45 per cent year-on-year, with lengths ranging from 1 to 7 metres. National flag sales climbed 35 per cent, with the total length of flags sold equating to 16.83 times the height of the Eiffel Tower. Accessories such as tricolour badges and wristbands saw the sharpest rise, up 51 per cent, boosted by quick doorstep delivery that allowed customers to join last-minute celebrations without delay. Remarkably, by midday on Independence Day, sales of stoles had already surpassed the entire day’s tally from last year.
The festival fervour extended beyond patriotic goods. Electronics sales spiked, with bigbasket offering the iPhone 16 (128GB) at ₹67,990 — the lowest retail price in India ahead of the iPhone 17 launch — delivering nearly 15 per cent savings. Some buyers reported receiving the device in as little as 13 minutes after placing their orders.
Commenting on the success, Mr Seshu Kumar, Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer at bigbasket, said: “This Independence Day, our customers didn’t just shop, they celebrated. From the tricolour stoles and flags that filled homes with patriotic pride to the record-breaking uptake of our electronics deals, the spirit of unity and excitement was palpable. Each purchase, whether a badge worn close to the heart or a phone delivered in record time, reflects how celebrations are evolving, blending tradition with technology, and we are proud to be part of both.”
The company said this year’s Independence Day proved that convenience and celebration can go hand in hand — whether it was a flag ordered minutes before a housing society event or a last-minute electronics deal, bigbasket ensured customers could mark the occasion exactly as they wished: quickly, easily, and with shared national pride.
