Dunzo Co-founder Kabeer Biswas Quits Flipkart Within 10 Months

Kabeer Biswas, who led Flipkart Minutes’ rapid rise in India’s quick commerce market, has stepped down less than a year after joining the Walmart-owned ecommerce giant

Kabeer Biswas, co-founder and former CEO of hyperlocal delivery startup Dunzo, has resigned from Flipkart, less than a year after joining the company as Vice President to lead its rapid delivery vertical, Flipkart Minutes, according to media reports.

Biswas joined Flipkart on 9 January 2025, reporting to Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President, Flipkart. His departure comes around ten months later, with an official announcement expected shortly. According to reports, Flipkart is likely to appoint an internal candidate to replace him.

While Biswas’ next move remains unclear, industry insiders suggest he may continue in the quick commerce space and could explore opportunities with one of India’s leading players such as Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, or Zepto. However, sources emphasised that his future plans are not yet finalised.

Flipkart Minutes’ Rapid Growth Under Biswas

During his tenure, Biswas played a pivotal role in scaling Flipkart Minutes from near-zero orders to over three lakh daily orders, marking Flipkart’s aggressive entry into the quick commerce race. The service expanded across major metros and smaller cities, including Guwahati, signalling a pan-India push to rival established players.

The expansion also boosted traffic to Flipkart’s platform, adding nearly 50 million new visitors over the past year, according to company estimates. Under Biswas, the dark store network grew to about 800, narrowing the gap with Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart, which operate between 800–1,000 stores each.

Commenting on the business earlier, his supervisor Hemant Badri had said, “The model we envisioned is panning out. So, long story short, I am quite surprised — in a positive way.”

Biswas’ exit marks a significant leadership change for Flipkart as it strengthens its foothold in the fast-growing quick commerce sector, projected to exceed USD 6 billion in GMV by 2026. The company is expected to announce fresh leadership and expansion plans for Flipkart Minutes in the coming weeks.
