From onions to iPhones, the report reveals how quick commerce is shaping consumer lifestyles across cities and moods
Flipkart has unveiled its first annual report on quick commerce, Minutes That Move India, unpacking how, when and why Indian consumers shop on its one-year-old rapid delivery platform, Flipkart Minutes.
Launched in August 2024, Flipkart Minutes has expanded to 19 cities and over 2,900 pincodes, delivering everything from groceries to gadgets in under 10 minutes. The report draws on data-led insights to capture evolving consumer behaviours, quirky purchase habits, and mood-driven shopping across the country.
Among the highlights, onions emerged as the most-ordered product, with over a million deliveries, surpassing even high-end gadgets. Milk sales were enough to fill six Olympic swimming pools, while Indians consumed 12 million scoops of ice cream via quick commerce. Maggi noodles retained its comfort food crown with four packets sold every minute.
Flipkart also recorded its fastest delivery at 3 minutes 21 seconds in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout. Peak shopping hours included early mornings for essentials and late nights for indulgences, with one customer placing 886 orders in a year. Quirky carts included combinations such as aloo bhujia, gold coins and mouth freshener ordered together.
City-specific trends revealed Kolkata as the dessert capital, Guwahati leading in beauty and personal care, Mumbai in pet food, and Bengaluru in late-night tech buys. Seasonal and occasion-driven shopping also spiked, with monsoon-related products making up one in five orders this June, and chocolate sales quadrupling on Valentine’s Day.
Commenting on the findings, Flipkart said the report reflects India’s appetite for instant fulfilment and its growing trust in quick commerce. “Flipkart Minutes is redefining shopping as timely, intuitive and customer-first, seamlessly blending everyday essentials with personalised, occasion-led and even whimsical purchases,” the company noted.
With personalisation emerging as a key driver—categories such as greeting cards and lifestyle gifts growing multifold—the report highlights how quick commerce is reshaping convenience, celebrations and consumer expectations across India.
