Gold Coins, Dinner Sets Top Flipkart Minutes’ Dhanteras Sale

Quick-commerce platform sees strong festive demand as shoppers opt for instant delivery of auspicious and home essentials

Gulak and Tanishq gold coins emerged as the most popular items on Flipkart Minutes during Dhanteras 2025, the company said, as consumers turned to the platform for instant delivery of festive essentials.

Flipkart Minutes, the ecommerce major’s express delivery service, reported a surge in orders for gold coins, pooja decor, and homeware, reflecting growing consumer reliance on digital platforms for last-minute festive shopping. Alongside gold coins, popular products included tealight candles, torans, rice lights, and rangoli stencils, used widely in Dhanteras celebrations.

The platform offered certified gold coins from trusted brands including MMTC-PAMP, PC Jeweller, Gullak, and Mia, with options ranging from 0.5 grams to 10 grams.

The platform also recorded demand for home and kitchen items such as dinner sets, air fryers, electric cookers, and diffusers, indicating that festive preparations extended beyond traditional pooja purchases. Smaller lifestyle items like ethnic wear, fashion jewellery, wristwatches, and personal care accessories also featured in consumer orders.

Flipkart Minutes, the quick-commerce arm of Walmart-owned Flipkart have expanded to 19 cities and over 3,000 pin codes, delivering products across categories including daily essentials, fresh produce, electronics, and now precious metals. The platform has been doubling its order volumes every 45 days and has reached the milestone of 50 million unique visitors since its August 2024 launch.

Quick-commerce platforms collectively witnessed 120 per cent year-on-year growth during the 2025 festive season, significantly outpacing traditional ecommerce channels. Swiggy Instamart recorded a fivefold jump in gold and silver coin sales compared to the previous year, while BigBasket witnessed 146 per cent growth in gold coin sales and 234 per cent surge in silver coin sales.
