The electric two-wheeler maker has opened its first dealer-led outlets across seven states
Ola Electric has opened its first dealer-operated stores across India, marking the beginning of a major overhaul of its retail and service network less than a month after the electric two-wheeler maker opened its distribution model to dealers.
The first partner-led outlets have gone live across Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The company plans to build a network of more than 500 dealerships over the next two quarters, expanding its presence across regional markets while shifting its existing company-owned outlets towards product experience centres.
Ola Electric opened its sales and service network to dealers on 6 August, five years after introducing its first electric scooter through a fully company-owned retail model. Under the new arrangement, dealers will manage local sales and servicing, while Ola Electric’s own outlets will focus primarily on product demonstrations and brand experience.
The company expects the dealer-led model to help it expand into more cities and towns without bearing the full cost of establishing and operating company-owned stores. Ola Electric had previously said it received more than 1,200 expressions of interest from prospective dealership partners, indicating significant interest in participating in its expanded distribution network.
The move also comes amid efforts to strengthen Ola Electric’s after-sales service, an area that has faced persistent customer concerns over repair delays, spare-parts availability and service centre capacity. Under the new model, dealers will be responsible for both sales and service and will maintain spare-parts inventory locally.
Service remained a significant constraint on demand and brand trust during FY26, according to the company. However, Ola Electric said its average service turnaround time declined 88 per cent from around nine days in October 2025 to nearly one day by March 2026. The company also reported a reduction in its service backlog from 14 days to six days, while same-day closures reached around 87 per cent.
The dealership expansion comes at a time when Ola Electric is attempting to regain momentum in India’s increasingly competitive electric two-wheeler market. The company held a 7.6 per cent share of electric two-wheeler registrations in August, pointing to a recent improvement in its market position.
To strengthen its presence in the mass-market segment, Ola Electric has also introduced its S1Z range, with prices starting at Rs 79,999. The scooters are available with 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh battery options, offering claimed ranges of up to 179 km and 301 km, respectively.
The S1Z range also serves as a showcase for Ola Electric’s battery technology. It is the company’s first model to use its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology, linking its product expansion with its broader effort to develop and deploy locally developed battery technology.
