Startup brings lactose-free desserts to Delhi, Gurgaon cinemas
Plant-based dairy startup 1.5 Degree has partnered with PVR Cinemas to roll out kiosks serving natural, lactose-free gelatos and shakes at select multiplexes in the National Capital Region. The company has set up its first outlets at PVR ECX Chanakyapuri in Delhi and PVR Inox Worldmark in Gurgaon.
The kiosks will offer gelatos, shakes, and sundaes made without dairy or palm oil, the company said in the statement.
The collaboration marks 1.5 Degree’s entry into public retail after recently raising seed funding from BITS Pilani. Its products have so far been available through institutional partners such as Compass Group, Sodexo, and Taj Hotels.
Among the flavours created for the launch are Caramel Popcorn Gelato, inspired by the cinema experience, along with Mixed Berry, Biscoff, Mango, Coffee, and No-Added-Sugar Blueberry. The menu also includes sugar-free shakes and canned sundaes.
“Ice cream is an emotion — an inseparable part of the movie experience. Whether it’s a family outing, date night, or a get-together with friends, our gelatos aim to make every PVR moment sweeter, healthier, and more memorable. Our mission is to make plant-based indulgence mainstream – where great taste meets good health and sustainability,” said Vedansh Goyal, founder of 1.5 Degree.
1.5 Degree operates a 10,000-litre-per-day facility in Haryana and positions its products as environmentally conscious alternatives to dairy. Its tagline, “Plant-based to Cool a Warmer Planet,” underscores its climate-focused approach.
