On World Pizza Day, observed annually on 9 February, over 1.35 lakh pizzas were ordered in just 24 hours
Providing insights into India’s obsession with pizza, Swiggy, an on-demand convenience platform analysed order trends over the past year and revealed that devoured staggering 34 million pizzas. The data is for the period from 9 February 2024 to 9 February 2025.
On World Pizza Day, observed annually on 9th February, over 1.35 lakh pizzas were ordered in just 24 hours. Throughout the year, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad emerged as India’s ultimate pizza hubs. Bangalore and Mumbai led the charge with each having over three million orders in the stated period.
When it comes to brand loyalty, Domino’s Pizza reigned supreme over the past year, receiving over 2.7 million orders from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, as per Swiggy’s data. Margherita Pizza with over one million orders emerged as the undisputed champion, topping the charts across all cities in the last one year. Garlic breads, cheesy dips and refreshing cokes were the most popular companions.
A Swiggy user from Mumbai kicked off a feast, placing a massive order of 200 Pizzas worth Rs 45,000 in a single order. The order contained Margherita Pizzas, Mexican Green Wave Pizza, Indi Tandoori Paneer Pizza, Garlic Breadsticks and Cheesy Dip. The company stated that through Bolt, a Swiggy user in Barakar (West Bengal) got the Onion Paneer Pizza delivered in just 3.4 minutes.
