Slumberzone New Zealand Enters Indian Mattress Market, To Set up Mfg Unit in Hyderabad

The company aims to challenge China’s dominance in the mattress industry by offering superior-quality products and strengthening India’s position as a global export hub

In line with its strategic expansion plans, Slumberzone New Zealand, a player in luxury mattress manufacturing has notified its foray into India’s rapidly growing USD 2.5 billion mattress market. The company plans to establish its first manufacturing unit in Hyderabad with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore.

The company plans to make the Hyderabad unit operational by March 2026 with a production capacity of 1000 units per day. The company is looking to hire around 200 to 250 skilled and unskilled workers locally, as per the official statement.

The decision was made public during a special ceremony in New Delhi, highlighting New Zealand’s expanding commercial partnerships in India. With a vision of making Slumberzone a global leader in sleep solutions, the company aims to establish itself as India’s most advanced mattress manufacturer and a strategic export hub.

Present on the occasion was New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who said, “It is great to see ambitious New Zealand manufacturing companies, like Slumberzone, choosing India to scale up their operations. ‘Made for India, Made in India’ enhances collaboration, broadens our trade relationship, and contributes to the growth of both our economies.”

For its distribution strategy, Slumberzone will adopt an omnichannel approach. Over the next three years, it plans to open 20 physical retail stores across India while also offering select specialised products on its ecommerce platform.

“We are bringing an international product experience to Indian consumers, which will redefine the sleep market in India and create an international presence for the Slumberzone brand,” stated Slumberzone India’s Founder and Director, Ranjay Sikka.

The Auckland-based retailer and manufacturer’s expansion into the Indian market is to cash in on the growing demand amongst consumers for comfortable and functional sleep solutions while dealing with hectic and stressful lifestyle.

“With a strong focus on technology-driven sleep solutions and sustainability in India, we target USD 100 million in annual revenue, reinforcing our position as an industry leader worldwide over the next five years,” stated Vidhul Sikka, Chief Business Officer and Director of Slumberzone India.

Slumberzone also will focus on entering international markets, including North America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East over the next few years.
