The company states that the overall fee drop is expected to improve savings for sellers, enabling them to scale operations

In an attempt to support small businesses selling on its platform across the country, Amazon India has notified zero referral fees for over 1.2 crore products that are priced below Rs 300 across over 135 product categories. The revision will take effect from 7 April 2025. A referral fee is a commission that sellers pay to Amazon for each product sold.

The company stated that the overall fee drop is expected to improve savings for sellers, enabling them to scale operations, and offer even more competitive offers to their customers. The zero referral fees apply to product categories such as apparel, shoes, fashion jewellery, grocery, home décor and furnishings, beauty, toys, kitchen products, automotive and pet products among others.

“This initiative supports seller growth on Amazon by enabling them to offer a wider selection and present more competitive offers to customers, particularly on everyday low-value items. As we gain efficiencies in our operations, we ensure those benefits reach our sellers and customers,” stated Amit Nanda, Director, Selling Partner Services at Amazon India.

The company highlighted that sellers can now get further benefits on multi-unit purchases, enjoying up to 90 per cent savings in fees on additional units sold. This is the second reduction in the last eight months. In September 2024, Amazon India notified a reduction in selling fees—ranging from three to 12 per cent—for 59 product categories on the marketplace.

Amazon India has also brought in a simplified flat shipping rate for sellers using external fulfilment channels like Easy Ship and Seller Flex with national shipping rates now starting at Rs 65, down from the earlier Rs 77.

In addition, Amazon has reduced the weight handling fees for lightweight items under one kilogram by up to Rs 17, lowering the overall fees that sellers pay to Amazon. Sellers shipping more than one product unit at a time stand to see up to 90 per cent savings in selling fees on the second unit, the company stated.
