The reports state that the company is planning to add more areas in its reach in the coming weeks
Moving beyond an employee-only pilot, Amazon has now begun rolling out Amazon Now, its 10-minute delivery service in select Bengaluru pockets, according to media reports. The company is planning to add more areas in its reach in the coming weeks, the reports stated.
Brands in beauty, kitchen and home categories are being engaged by Amazon as part of the scale-up plan. The reports cited brand executives who are looking at the March-April window to go live and onboard with the company once the grocery and daily essentials are stabilised.
With quick commerce firms carrying over 20,000 stock-keeping units, the reports have highlighted that the sector is expected to grow to USD 31 billion by the financial year 2027, from USD 21 billion. With Amazon Now marking its entry in this race, Flipkart, another ecommerce firm, has been scaling up its Minutes services as well. The company has managed to grow to 120 to 150 dark stores and has plans to reach in the range of 500 to 550 by its Big Billon Days sale this year, as per the media reports.
In the quick commerce space, Flipkart has been adding high-value categories like electronics, smartphones as well as introducing medicine delivery. With ecommerce platforms entering the quick commerce space, the segment is facing intense competition.
Media reports state that Swiggy Instamart is tackling major competition from Blinkit and Zepto in race to come out on top in this growing space.
