Expanding its quick commerce footprint into corporate offices, workplaces, and residential communities across Kolkata, Bigbasket, a Tata enterprise, has introduced bbinstant across the city. The service is aimed at offering instant access to snacks, beverages, quick bites, and everyday pick-me-ups.
The company claimed that bbinstant is India’s largest vending machine operator, offering cashless, unmanned smart stores stocked with a range of snacks, beverages, biscuits, chocolates, healthy snacks, cold drinks, lassi, ready-to-eat options and daily essentials. The company added that Kolkata’s dynamic corporate culture and always-on energy make it a strong fit for bbinstant’s proposition.
“Convenience has always been at the heart of what bigbasket stands for and bbinstant takes that a step further by putting it literally at your doorstep. Kolkata is a city that never really slows down, and we want to make sure that whether it is early morning or late at night, residents and professionals always have access to fresh, quality products without having to step out,” stated Seshu Kumar Tirumala, Chief Operating Officer, Bigbasket.
Last week, the company appointed Amit Nanda as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), signalling a leadership transition as the company steps up its focus on quick commerce and technology-led retail expansion in India’s competitive online grocery market.
The move comes as Bigbasket intensifies efforts to scale faster deliveries, expand assortment and strengthen its platform capabilities across metros and emerging cities, where competition among ecommerce and quick commerce players continues to rise.
Nanda joins Bigbasket from Amazon India, where he served as Director, Selling Partner Services, overseeing key parts of the marketplace and third-party seller ecosystem. His appointment brings platform-scale and marketplace experience at a time when Bigbasket is deepening its digital commerce capabilities.
