Consolidated net profit reaches Rs 124.39 crore in the September quarter, as electric consumer durables revenue grows 19.36 per cent year-on-year
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals reported a 65 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 124.39 crore for the September quarter of FY27, as revenue from operations grew 18.15 per cent to Rs 2,263.29 crore, supported by double-digit growth in general trade, international business and its electric consumer durables segment.
The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 75.42 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, according to a regulatory filing by Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals or CGCEL.
Revenue from operations increased to Rs 2,263.29 crore in the September quarter from Rs 1,915.57 crore a year earlier. The growth was “driven by double-digit growth in general trade, highest-ever quarterly sales in international business”, the company said in its earnings statement.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) rose 24.1 per cent year-on-year to Rs 205 crore, translating into a margin of 9 per cent. The company attributed the improvement to disciplined price increases, cost efficiencies and operating leverage amid inflationary pressures. Total expenses increased 17 per cent to Rs 2,113.91 crore during the second quarter. Despite the rise in costs, the company reported stronger profitability alongside revenue growth, with its consumer durables and lighting businesses recording year-on-year increases in revenue.
“This is Crompton’s third consecutive quarter of strong double-digit growth across segments, with market share gains in key categories,” said Promeet Ghosh, managing director and chief executive officer of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals.
Revenue from the electric consumer durables segment increased 19.36 per cent to Rs 1,634.49 crore. The company said this was its “highest quarterly growth in the last nine quarters led by robust growth in fans, conventional pumps, LDA (Large Domestic Appliances) and SDA (Small Domestic Appliances)”.
The lighting products business recorded a 14.26 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue to Rs 298.29 crore during the September quarter, contributing to the company’s overall revenue growth across its business segments.
Revenue from Butterfly, a subsidiary acquired by Crompton in February 2022, rose 15.87 per cent to Rs 330.51 crore. The company reported “healthy growth” in the business, alongside market share gains in some segments. Total consolidated income, including other income, increased 18.24 per cent to Rs 2,280.84 crore in the September quarter, compared with the corresponding period a year earlier.
Shares of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals closed 0.63 per cent higher at Rs 217.20 apiece on the BSE on Friday.
