As the company gears to cater to millions of customers during the upcoming festive season, Amazon India has claimed that it has created more than 1,50,000 seasonal work opportunities across its operations network of fulfilment centres (FCs), sort centres and last-mile delivery stations.
These include direct and indirect work opportunities in over 400 cities across India, including cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Lucknow. As per the official statement, the company has created opportunities for thousands of women associates as well as over 2,000 PWDs (differently abled) in its network. However, BW Retail World could not verify these claims independently.
“This festive season, we continue to be focused on providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers in every serviceable pin code across India. For this, we have strengthened our fulfilment and logistics network with over 1.5 lakh additional people to help us manage increased customer demand efficiently. Many of these people continue their journey with Amazon beyond the festive period, with a significant number returning to work with us year after year,” said Abhinav Singh, VP – Operations, India and Australia, Amazon
As part of its commitment to support the well-being of associates in the ecommerce network in India, Amazon has implemented a range of initiatives, including the expansion of Ashray rest centers to 100 nationwide in 2025. The company also has a health and well-being initiative providing free health check-ups to over 80,000 delivery associates across major cities.
The official statement emphasised that the company has fulfilment centers spread across 15 states, offering over 43 million cubic feet of storage space for seller inventory; sortation centers in 19 states; along with a network of close to 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations. Also, it has 28,000 ‘I have space’ partners and thousands of Amazon Flex partners, who deliver to customers across the country, the company added.
