Darshan Mehta, the former Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Reliance Brands, has passed away. A heart attack while working out on a treadmill at Taj Hyderabad is said to be the cause of his sudden demise.
Mehta played a leading role in shaping the country’s premium and luxury ecosystem as a fashion and retail industry veteran. Mehta was a key figure in the transformation of Reliance Brands and among its first employees when the company was established in 2007.
Mehta’s sharp market instinct and his strategic insight were the highlights of his career. Under his leadership, Reliance Brands introduced and scaled a number of fashion and lifestyle brands in the country.
Before Reliance, Mehta served at companies like Arvind Brands. He played a crucial role in expanding Reliance Brands’ reach in luxury and premium retail. Mehta was at the helm of many partnerships the brand forged with the leading brands globally.
