Shoppers Stop Turns To Profit In Q2 At Rs 3.11 Cr

Revenue rises 8.72 per cent to Rs 1,366.27 crore as the retailer credits premiumisation, inventory discipline and operational efficiency for improved profitability despite a shift in festive demand towards Q3

Retail chain Shoppers Stop reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3.11 crore in the September quarter of FY27, reversing a net loss of Rs 20.11 crore in the year-ago period, as its premiumisation strategy supported profitability despite a shift in the festive season towards the December quarter.

Revenue from operations rose 8.72 per cent to Rs 1,366.27 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 1,256.62 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, according to the company’s regulatory filing. The Raheja family-promoted retailer attributed its return to profitability to its “premiumisation-led growth strategy”, which it said had enabled a “PAT positive performance”.

Total income, including other income, increased 9.7 per cent to Rs 1,389.15 crore during the quarter. Total expenses rose 7.11 per cent to Rs 1,385.02 crore. Shoppers Stop Managing Director and CEO Kavindra Mishra said the company delivered a strong performance in the second quarter despite the festive season shifting largely to the third quarter this year.

“Our continued focus on premiumisation, experiential retail, inventory discipline and operational excellence is resonating well with customers and strengthening the quality of growth. We remain committed to prudent capital allocation, further improving profitability, and achieving our goal of becoming debt-free by the end of Q3,” he said.

Shoppers Stop operates 119 department stores, 12 premium home concept stores, 73 speciality beauty stores featuring brands such as M.A.C, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Jo Malone, NARS, ARMANI beauty and PRADA BEAUTY, alongside its in-house SS Beauty brand. The retailer also runs 82 Intune stores and three airport outlets. Its retail network spans 4.6 million square feet across 75 cities.
