The company will be establishing a palm oil refining unit at a suitable location in the Kamareddy district
Following discussions between Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy and Unilever’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hein Schumacher, the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) major has agreed to set up two manufacturing units in the state.
The talks took place at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos. The company will be establishing a palm oil refining unit at a suitable location in the Kamareddy district. Unilever also plans to establish a manufacturing unit for bottle caps in the state, which will be aimed towards boosting local production and reducing imports, as per a release by the state government.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister Officer (CMO) of the state wrote, “In a strategic meeting with Hein Schumacher including Chief Supply Chain Officer Willem Uijen, Chief Minister along with IT and Industries minister Sridhar Babu garu showcased Telangana’s unique advantages: robust supply chain, ease of doing business, massive consumption-driven market, and visionary growth plans for 2050.”
The official release stated that while Unilever operates multiple manufacturing sites in the country, its presence in Telangana has thus far been minimal. CM Reddy offered full support and also proposed a suitable location in the district, as per the release.
