Marking a healthy improvement in its performance, United Breweries, the Kingfisher beer maker, has seen a 6 per cent year-on-year (YoY) jump in its profit after tax (Pat) in the first quarter of the current financial year (Q1FY26). The profit rose to Rs 184 crore in Q1FY26 from Rs 173.8 crore in Q1FY25.
The financial results of the company revealed a strong volume growth, a sharp rise in premium segment sales. The company recorded an 11 per cent growth in total volume, led by 46 per cent growth in premium segment, resulting in estimated market share gains in both overall and in premium categories.
“Our premium portfolio grew by 46 per cent in the quarter, ahead of the segment. Within our premium portfolio, we see strong growth from Kingfisher Ultra franchise, Amstel Grande and Heineken Silver, and we continue to drive premium volume growth, the company said in an exchange filing.
The company highlighted that the gross profit grew 14 per cent, with GP margin at 42.5 per cent fuelling a 10 per cent increase in EBIT. Investments in capital expenditure during the quarter were Rs 136 crore, focused on commercial and supply chain initiatives to cater for future growth.
“After receiving an overwhelming response in Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, we are excited to bring Amstel Grande to Karnataka, an ever-evolving market where consumers are eager to try something new, international and premium,” the official statement pointed out.
Commenting on the outlook, the company said that it remains optimistic to unlock growth in the category and shape the future of beer in India, driven by increasing disposable income, favourable demographics and premiumisation.
As part of its ongoing network optimisation and productivity agenda, the company closed its Mangalore unit in a strategic move to consolidate capacity in Karnataka, while simultaneously investing in its Mysore brewery to scale supply chain efficiencies.
