In a move to increase its manufacturing capabilities, United Breweries, a brewer and beer brand, is setting up a new canning line facility in the existing Nizam brewery of the company in Telangana, it said in an exchange filing.
The company informed that the new facility will be commissioned in a year and will add 0.4 million hectolitre (mhl) of capacity. This is in addition to the already 0.5 mhl capacity, which is being operated at around 90 per cent capacity utilisation. The company added that the investment required for the new facility will be Rs 90 crore.
This facility will be designed primarily to produce certain premium products of Kingfisher and Heineken. The investment is being made through internal accruals and it has obtained all necessary regulatory approval. This includes last approval pertaining to building permit order issued by the industrial area local authority – Kothlapur, dated 25 August 2025.
Marking a healthy improvement in its performance, United Breweries, the Kingfisher beer maker, has seen a 6 per cent year-on-year (YoY) jump in its profit after tax (Pat) in the first quarter of the current financial year (Q1FY26). The profit rose to Rs 184 crore in Q1FY26 from Rs 173.8 crore in Q1FY25.
The financial results of the company revealed a strong volume growth, a sharp rise in premium segment sales. The company recorded an 11 per cent growth in total volume, led by 46 per cent growth in the premium segment, resulting in estimated market share gains in both overall and in the premium categories.
