Voltas Gets Show Cause Notice From GST Authorities

March GST Collection Grows 11.5% To Rs 1.78 Lakh Cr

The company says that it is evaluating this matter and will submit its reply within the prescribed time period

Demanding an explanation as to why the tax amount of Rs 265.25 crore should not be demanded along with interest and penalty, Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) authorities have sent a show cause notice to Voltas, the company informed in an exchange filing.

The company stated that the notice alleges short payment of GST for the financial years 2018-19 to 2020-21 by Universal Comfort Products, which got merged with the company during the financial year 2020-21.

“We would like to inform that a show cause notice from the Office of the Principal Commissioner, Central GST Commissionerate, Dehradun, under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 read with the Uttarakhand Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Integrated Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017 has been received alleging short payment of GST for the financial years 2018-19 to 2020-21 by Universal Comfort Products (which got merged with the company during the financial year 2020-21),” the exchange filing read.

The company is evaluating this matter and will submit its reply within the prescribed time period. In its exchange filing, the company mentioned that received the show cause notice on 1 July 2025 at 5:09 pm.

In an earlier development, the company received a show cause notice alleging wrongful availment and utilisation of inadmissible/irregular input tax credit and non-payment of GST for the financial years from 2018-19 to 2020-21 and enquiring why the tax amount of Rs. 31.77 crore should not be demanded along with interest and penalty.

“This is to inform that the company has on 30th June 2025 received a show cause notice from the Office of the Commissioner CGST and Central Excise, Commissionerate Indore, Madhya Pradesh under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 read with the Madhya Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Integrated Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017 alleging wrongful availment and utilisation of inadmissible/irregular input tax credit and non-payment of GST for the financial years from 2018-19 to 2020-21 and enquiring why the tax amount of Rs. 31.77 crore should not be demanded along with interest and penalty,” the company informed in an exchange filing.

The official statement from the company added that it is evaluating this matter and will submit its reply within the prescribed time period.
