Integration of hyperlocal delivery models, smart store technologies, and personalised customer experiences will drive the surge, the report stated
Driven by the integration of hyperlocal delivery models, smart store technologies, and personalised customer experiences, the retail sector is expected to witness an 8.2 per cent net employment growth in the second half of the current financial year. This is attributed to 71 per cent of companies foreseeing headcount increases, according to a report.
In its Employment Outlook Report for H2FY25, TeamLease stated that Expansion is focused on artificial intelligence (AI)-driven inventory management and leveraging phygital retail strategies. Roles such as omnichannel strategy leads and data-driven customer engagement specialists are in high demand as companies gear up for festive season sales surges.
Fuelled by the demand for IoT-enabled products, production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for domestic manufacturing, and a shift towards smart appliances, the Consumer Durables segment is projected to witness a 7.3 per cent net employment change, as highlighted by the report.
A 3.3 per cent net growth is anticipated for the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector as companies grapple with input cost inflation and supply chain disruptions, despite 52 per cent forecasting workforce expansion. However, the report added that 13 per cent plan reductions reflect the overall cautious outlook.
The report added that Firms are investing in rural salesforce expansion, D2C ecommerce models, and AI-enabled distribution networks. Emerging roles include ecommerce logistics coordinators, sustainability officers, and brand innovation managers as companies pivot towards health and wellness categories.
As far as the travel and hospitality sector is concerned, with 66 per cent projecting headcount growth, the industry is supported by smart tourism initiatives, recovery in meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions (Mice), and sustainable tourism mandates. Companies are targeting talent in sustainability coordination, smart travel experience design, and contactless tech deployment as they pivot towards delivering digitally enabled, eco-friendly travel experiences, as per the report.
