California Burrito, India’s fast growing casual Mexican restaurant, is set to open its 100th store at Miraya Rose, Whitefield, Bengaluru, on 15 February 2025. Marking a decade of revolutionising fresh, high-quality Mexican cuisine for Indian consumers, the brand is celebrating this milestone with a special Rs 100 menu available for one day across all its stores in India (Dine-in only).
Additionally, California Burrito is introducing an all-new “Hot Habanero Burrito,” a fiery, flavour-packed offering featuring a special habanero sauce made from imported habanero chillies, available for a limited time.
Since its inception in 2012, California Burrito has transformed the quick-service restaurant (QSR) landscape in India with its commitment to farm-fresh ingredients, bold flavours, and a highly customisable menu. Drawing inspiration from San Francisco’s Mission-style burritos, the brand has expanded from a single outlet in Bengaluru to a pan-India presence, with stores in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore.
Bert Mueller, Co-founder of California Burrito, emphasised the significance of this milestone, not just for the brand but also for the growing popularity of Mexican cuisine in India. “The 100th store opening is a testament to the love and trust our customers have shown us over the years. We have successfully introduced Mexican food as a mainstream category in India, but this is just the beginning of our journey. India is a vast market, and there are many more cities to serve. We remain committed to innovation, improving our food, and delivering real, authentic Mexican flavours. Some of these projects will take years, but we are making progress every day,” he said.
The 100th store opening aligns with California Burrito’s ambitious expansion strategy, as the company aims to triple its footprint to 300 locations by 2030. This growth plan includes entering key markets like Mumbai and Pune, further solidifying its presence across India. Alongside geographical expansion, the brand is also strengthening its sustainable sourcing initiatives, ensuring the highest quality ingredients, such as premium Hass avocados and tomatillos, to enhance the authenticity of its offerings.
