Amazon said on Tuesday that it had begun its delivery service in Gajoli, a rural village in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. According to the firm, it is the first and only e-commerce company to transport items to the Maharishi Ashram in Gajoli, which sits at 4,500 feet in the Himalayan mountains.
There are no businesses or delivery services in and near the Ashram. Delivering items at this location is not only difficult, but also time-consuming, according to the organisation.
“Over the last few years, we have significantly ramped up our infrastructure and delivery technology across all three miles, building a fast, safe, and resilient network to serve the varied needs of our customers, reaching the remotest corners of the country,” Karuna Shankar Pande, Director, Amazon Logistics, Amazon India, said.
