Apple Reportedly Working On Affordable Vision Pro Headset

Apple Warns Vision Pro users With Certain Conditions Urged To See Doctors

The US tech giant, Apple, is reportedly working on the second generation of the mixed reality Vision Pro Headset, as per the Digitimes Asia news website. The second-generation Apple Vision Pro is likely to be available in four different models, with one in the premium segment and the other three being affordable versions with minimal basic to average features.

According to the report, the Bill of Materials (BoM) for this cost-effective version is expected to be just 50 per cent lower than the first generation. The report also suggests that the Vision Pro headset is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2024. Apple is also reportedly working on AR glasses similar to Meta’s Smart Glasses, which were announced earlier this year.

Apple analyst Mark Gurman, in his latest newsletter, revealed that the launch date for the inaugural Vision Pro headset, initially set for January next year, has been rescheduled to March due to manufacturing challenges. Gurman’s report further states that the tech giant is still refining its distribution plans and conducting tests.

The design of the Apple Vision Pro headset has compelled significant reductions in its production forecast. Apple is anticipated to manufacture fewer than 400,000 units in 2024, with the initial release focusing solely on the US market. The mixed-reality headset is expected to gradually expand to other regions, aiming for a global launch by the year’s end.
