ITC To Identify Climate Risks And Promote Sustainable Practices In Business Operations

British American Tobacco To Sell Stake In ITC

Chairman and Managing Director of ITC  Sanjeev Puri on Thursday announced that that the company is taking measures to identify climate risks associated with extreme weather conditions.

A team of experts is currently working on modelling using big data analytics to pinpoint hotspots, and the company plans to take steps to mitigate these issues, it said.

The company is currently working on popularising millet-based products across all categories of its food business in the coming months. Millets can withstand extreme weather conditions and are highly nutritious, Puri added.

ITC had already taken a similar initiative in 2020, which was implemented on a large scale.

Puri also noted that while urban demand for ITC products is growing, rural demand is expected to pick up as well.

The Chairman emphasised the importance of building resilience in agriculture, and noted that the transition from coal to renewables will come with social and financial costs.

Overall, ITC is taking proactive measures to address climate risks and promote sustainable practices in its business operations.
