Katie Bickerstaffe, co-CEO of British apparel and food store Marks & Spencer, is quitting the firm and giving over sole control to Stuart Machin, Sky News reported Wednesday.
According to the article, Bickerstaffe will quit the firm this year and join European home improvement retailer Kingfisher as a non-executive director.
Katie Bickerstaffe and Stuart Machin took over as co-CEOs of Marks & Spencer in 2022, succeeding Steve Rowe.
Machin took over day-to-day business and executive committee leadership, while Bickerstaffe focused on developing the company’s multi-platform sales strategy.
Bickerstaffe’s anticipated departure comes after the retailer announced a higher-than-expected increase in sales over the Christmas trading season, benefiting from investments to improve the value and quality of its apparel and food, as well as an overhaul of its store estate.
