Artificial Intelligence-powered and internet-connected smart appliances are set to dominate 70 per cent of Samsung’s India sales, according to the news agency PTI reported citing a top official of the leading appliances and consumer electronics manufacturer.
Encouraged by the increasing adoption of AI-driven devices in India, Samsung is expanding its portfolio to include more AI-powered products such as washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves and residential air conditioners.
Samsung India’s Senior Director of Digital Appliances, Saurabh Baishakhia, stated that there is an increasing trend and people are seeing value while buying these connected appliances.
He highlighted Samsung’s commitment to integrating AI technology across various appliance categories, aiming to achieve the 70 per cent sales target by 2025.
Baishakhia emphasised Samsung’s strategic approach of introducing AI technology quarter by quarter across all appliances, expecting this move to boost the company’s share in the premium appliances segment. He noted that customers are willing to pay a premium for AI-powered products, indicating a shift in consumer preferences towards connected appliances.
Currently, around 25-30 per cent of Samsung India’s sales come from its connected smart range of appliances. Baishakhia expressed confidence in achieving the sales target, stating that affordability is no longer a concern for consumers.
Samsung recently launched its ‘Bespoke’ range of AI-powered appliances in India, which includes refrigerators, air conditioners, microwaves, and washing machines. These products, powered by AI, are designed to enhance convenience and sustainability in homes. Baishakhia confirmed that these Bespoke appliances would be manufactured in India.
