The retail veteran moves from V-Mart Retail to Reliance Retail, bringing nearly three decades of experience across Future Group, Vishal Retail and V-Mart
Reliance Retail has appointed Vineet Jain as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its Fashion & Lifestyle business, as the retail major strengthens its leadership team for the next phase of growth.
Jain, who shared the appointment on LinkedIn, joins Reliance Retail from V-Mart Retail, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. He brings nearly three decades of retail experience, including senior leadership roles at Future Group and Vishal Retail.
In his new role, Jain will oversee operations across Reliance Retail’s Fashion & Lifestyle business. His mandate includes driving operational excellence, improving customer experience, accelerating business development and network expansion, enhancing asset productivity, and supporting sustainable and profitable growth.
Before joining Reliance Retail, Jain was COO at V-Mart Retail, where he led a significant transformation programme. During his tenure, he worked on scaling the business, expanding its national retail footprint, improving profitability and driving customer, operational and digital transformation initiatives.
Jain spent more than 17 years with Future Group, holding several senior positions, including CEO – North India. During his tenure, he was involved in building and scaling retail formats including Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar and FBB. He also led the development of the Big Bazaar GEN NXT format and worked on the turnaround of businesses including Easyday and Big Apple.
Earlier in his career, Jain was part of the founding leadership team at Vishal Retail Ltd, now Vishal Mega Mart, where he contributed to the development of one of India’s early organised retail businesses.
Jain began his career in the textile and financial services sectors, building experience in business operations and finance.
His academic and professional qualifications include Chartered Accountant (ICAI), Cost Accountant (ICMAI), Company Secretary (Inter) and a Commerce degree from the University of Calcutta. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School and IIM Ahmedabad, and has completed the Executive Leadership Programme at INSEAD, France.
Jain’s appointment comes as India’s fashion and lifestyle retail market continues to evolve, with scale, network expansion, customer experience, digital transformation and operational productivity becoming key drivers of competitive advantage.
