Amazon Great Indian Festival Sees Shopping Volumes Double In Opening

Amazon India reports 100 per cent year-on-year growth in products ordered during the opening of its 2026 festive sale, with premium electronics, fashion and beauty among the key categories driving demand

Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival 2026 recorded a 100 per cent year-on-year increase in products ordered during its opening, according to the e-commerce company, as festive shopping demand extended across metropolitan areas and smaller towns.

The company said customers from every pin code in India had placed orders during the opening of the shopping event, spanning smartphones, consumer electronics, fashion, beauty, home products, kitchen appliances and everyday essentials.

The opening performance was supported by discounts, bank offers, exchange programmes and no-cost equated monthly instalment (EMI) options. Amazon said one in two customers used EMI to make purchases, while one in three units sold attracted cashback offers.

Prime members also benefited from exclusive deals, with the company reporting that they saved more than twice as much as in the corresponding period last year through Prime-only offers in the first 12 hours.

“Early trends from the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 have beaten our most optimistic expectations. We opened for all customers at midnight and have already set new benchmarks across customer engagement, order volumes and delivery speed,” said Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President, Amazon India.

He added that demand was coming from across the country, with customers responding to product selection, pricing and delivery options.

Premium Electronics Drive Upgrades
Premium smartphones and consumer electronics were among the prominent categories during the sale. Amazon reported a 70 per cent year-on-year increase in premium Android smartphone sales, with the Apple iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, OnePlus Nord 6, Xiaomi 17 and iQOO 15R among the popular models.

MacBook Neo sales were 65 times higher than on a regular day, while premium wearables recorded sales 80 times their usual daily levels, according to the company.

Demand also increased across home entertainment and large appliances. Sales of home entertainment products were 77 times higher than on a regular day, with televisions measuring 55 inches and above accounting for 65 per cent of TVs sold. Premium home theatre systems recorded sales 100 times their usual daily levels in the first 12 hours.

Large appliances sold at 50 times the regular daily rate. Premium front-load washing machines with capacities of 9 kg and above recorded sales 80 times their usual levels, while refrigerators reached 60 times their regular daily sales.

Fashion And Beauty See Strong Demand
Fashion sales reached seven times the level of a regular day, Amazon said. Footwear sales also rose sevenfold, with seven pairs sold every second during the reported period.

Demand extended across denim, ethnic wear and men’s apparel. Levi’s recorded denim sales 30 times its usual daily level, while BIBA’s sales were 14 times higher than normal. Women’s ethnic wear sales reached four times their regular daily levels.

Beauty products accounted for one in four products purchased on Amazon.in during the first 12 hours, according to the company. Premium skincare and haircare products recorded sales of more than 150 units a minute, five times their usual daily rate.

K-beauty products sold at four times their regular daily rate, while luxury fragrances recorded sales of 12 units a minute, four times their usual daily level. Sales of soaps and shower gels were 19 times higher than on a regular day.

Quick Deliveries Add To Festive Push
Delivery speed was another feature of the opening, with Amazon reporting that millions of deals reached customers within hours of orders being placed.

In more than 120 cities served by Amazon Now, one in two products was delivered within minutes, the company said. The service is part of Amazon’s efforts to expand rapid delivery options alongside its wider e-commerce operations.

Health And Home Products Gain Traction
Demand also extended to health and home-related products. Air fryers and air purifiers recorded sales 30 times their usual daily levels, while juicers sold at 23 times and espresso machines at 16 times their regular daily rates.

Premium wearables, led by brands including Garmin, Apple, Samsung and Amazfit, also recorded significant growth, reflecting demand for connected devices and products associated with health and fitness, according to Amazon.

The opening figures point to demand across both discretionary purchases, including premium electronics and beauty, and products for everyday household use. However, the company’s figures relate to its own platform and the reported opening period; they do not indicate overall festive retail growth across India.

Amazon’s Great Indian Festival continues through the festive shopping season, with the company offering deals across categories and seller listings on Amazon.in.
