Gulal and pichkaris witness a 50 per cent surge, as consumers opted for herbal colours, organic gulal and celebration accessories

Bigbasket, a Tata Enterprise, witnessed strong festive sales during Holi 2026, led by a sharp surge in purchases of traditional celebration essentials. The company recorded 80 per cent year-on-year growth across Holi-led categories, driven largely by sales of gulal and pichkaris, festive sweets, dry fruits and beverages.

Gulal and pichkaris witnessed a 50 per cent surge, as consumers opted for herbal colours, organic gulal and celebration accessories available on bigbasket, reflecting a growing preference for safe and skin-friendly festivities. Festive purchases began rising nearly 10 days before Holi, marking an early onset of celebrations across households.

Holika Dahan essentials, including coconuts, and ritual offerings, recorded a strong 83 per cent growth compared to last year, reaffirming the continued importance of traditional observances, as per the official statement.

“At Bigbasket, we understand that festivals are about togetherness, not running errands. This Holi, we brought everything customers needed, from Holika Dahan essentials to festive treats and beverages to their doorstep with speed and reliability. It is encouraging to see customers choosing convenience without compromising on tradition,” stated Seshu Kumar, Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer, Bigbasket.

Holi delights such as gujiya and laddoo saw a strong 80 per cent increase, as customers embraced ready-to-serve festive treats for home gatherings. Sweets and dry fruits registered a 60 per cent growth, driven by gifting and festive consumption trends. Beverages including thandai and coolers emerged as a major growth driver, witnessing a 30 per cent rise, as households stocked up on festive drinks and refreshment essentials.
