Ekart Expands IKEA Tie-Up With EV Deliveries In Chennai

Logistics major to power sustainable last-mile deliveries for IKEA in Chennai through a dedicated electric vehicle fleet and 48-hour fulfilment model

Ekart has expanded its partnership with IKEA to strengthen the global home furnishing retailer’s last-mile delivery operations in Chennai, marking a significant step in sustainable urban logistics and large-format retail fulfilment in India.
Under the collaboration, all IKEA orders placed through its website and app in Chennai will now be fulfilled by Ekart’s fully dedicated electric vehicle (EV) fleet, enabling zero-emission, technology-led deliveries across the city. Chennai becomes the second major market where Ekart manages IKEA deliveries after the partnership was first launched in NCR-Delhi in 2025.
The agreement underlines Ekart’s growing role as an enterprise-grade logistics partner capable of handling complex and large-format commerce for leading retail brands operating in India.
As part of the long-term arrangement, Ekart will oversee end-to-end movement of orders across IKEA’s catalogue of more than 600 products, including furniture, home décor, household essentials and bulky home solutions that require specialised handling.
The company said its technology-enabled fulfilment network and route optimisation systems would help ensure deliveries within a 48-hour window. Customers will also receive real-time tracking and full shipment visibility from fulfilment hub to doorstep.
The dedicated EV-led supply chain is expected to support faster turnaround times while aligning with both companies’ sustainability goals by promoting cleaner urban logistics solutions.
Mani Bhushan, Chief Business Officer, Ekart, said: “Our expanded partnership with IKEA reflects Ekart’s strength in building and operating enterprise-grade, specialised supply chain solutions for leading global retail brands. Through dedicated infrastructure and an EV-led last-mile network, we are focused on delivering consistent, sustainable logistics solutions at scale.”
Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager, IKEA India, said: “Efficient and sustainable fulfilment is central to our growth in India as we expand our omnichannel presence. Our collaboration with Ekart in Chennai strengthens our ability to serve customers faster and more seamlessly, particularly across our large-format home furnishing range.”
Ekart currently powers end-to-end logistics for more than 1,800 retail, direct-to-consumer and enterprise brands across India. Its integrated offerings include last-mile delivery, warehousing and part-truckload services.
Founded in 2009, Ekart operates Grade A warehouses across more than 20 locations, runs over 14,000 trucks daily and serves upwards of 15,000 pin codes nationwide.
The expanded IKEA partnership reflects growing demand for sustainable and scalable fulfilment solutions as India’s organised retail and e-commerce sectors continue to expand rapidly.
