Casio Deepens India Footprint With Locally Manufactured Watches

Japanese watchmaker blends global craftsmanship with Indian manufacturing to boost agility, sustainability, and consumer connect

 

Casio India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-based Casio Computer., has announced the rollout of its first batch of locally manufactured watch models, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s India strategy. The move strengthens Casio’s alignment with national manufacturing goals while enabling it to cater more precisely to evolving Indian tastes.

Since its entry into India in 1996, Casio has been synonymous with innovation, quality, and style. Now, with the “Make in India” initiative, the company is producing 28 specially curated watch models domestically, integrating its hallmark Japanese technology with the strengths of India’s manufacturing ecosystem.

“India has always been a priority market for Casio, and we continue to see immense potential for growth here,” said Takuto Kimura, Managing Director of Casio India. “By manufacturing locally, we are better equipped to design and deliver products that truly resonate with the Indian mindset and lifestyle. This move allows us to be more agile in responding to consumer needs, while ensuring our watches align with local tastes and expectations. Local manufacturing is not just a strategic step—it’s a consumer-first approach that reflects our deep commitment to the Indian market.”

Casio’s local production initiative also aims to streamline its supply chain, improve operational sustainability, and reduce time-to-market for new designs. The sale of these ‘Made in India’ watches began at the end of July, with dedicated campaigns scheduled for the festive season to promote the locally manufactured collection.

Casio India’s product portfolio spans timepieces, electronic musical instruments, desktop and scientific calculators, label printers, and clocks. True to its corporate creed of “creativity and contribution,” the brand continues to focus on delivering innovative products that make a positive impact on society.

With this strategic shift, Casio is not only reinforcing its long-term investment in India but also setting the stage for a more agile, locally attuned, and consumer-driven growth story.
