Revenue grew 21 per cent during the quarter, while Ebitda margin expanded nearly 10 percentage points
PC Jeweller reported a 37.2 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 222 crore for the June quarter, compared with Rs 162 crore in the same period last year, according to a regulatory filing on Monday.
Revenue from operations increased 21 per cent to Rs 877 crore during the quarter from Rs 725 crore a year earlier, reflecting continued growth in the company’s core business. The jewellery retailer recorded a sharper improvement at the operating level, with consolidated Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) rising 90 per cent year-on-year to Rs 242 crore from Rs 127 crore in the year-ago quarter.
The stronger operating performance lifted Ebitda margin to 27.5 per cent from 17.6 per cent a year earlier, marking an improvement of nearly 10 percentage points. The expansion in operating profit outpaced revenue growth during the quarter, pointing to improved operating leverage and profitability.
Separately, the company’s board has approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 1,000 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). The proposed issue will be subject to applicable regulatory requirements and approval from shareholders.
