L’Oréal To Acquire Majority Stake In Medik8

The partnership with L’Oréal will allow Medik8 to deepen its presence in existing markets and expand globally

Boosting its offering in the dermatological skincare market, L’Oréal has agreed to acquire British skincare brand Medik8, its owner, Britain-based private equity firm Inflexion, said in a statement. The partnership with L’Oréal will allow Medik8 to deepen its presence in existing markets and expand globally.

As part of the transaction, Inflexion will retain a minority shareholding in Medik8. Best known for its crystal retinal serum, Medik8 formulates and manufactures its products in-house in its UK innovation centre.

“With the support of Inflexion, we have shown Medik8 to be a formidable force, powered by high-quality, clinically proven results without compromise. We now enter our next phase of growth, with L’Oréal’s support, enabling us to further strengthen our innovation capabilities and reach even more customers worldwide,” highlighted Simon Coble, Chief Executive, Medik8.

As per the official statement, During Inflexion’s four-year investment, Medik8 has tripled both its headcount and sales, expanding across Europe, Australia, and notably strengthening its United States presence with US revenue share increasing sevenfold.

“Medik8 enters a new era today. Backed by Inflexion, we grew faster and stronger – not by diluting our founding values, but by doubling down on them. I am proud to see Medik8 join with L’Oréal a strategic partner that shares our unwavering commitment to science, innovation and above all, results without compromise,” stated Elliot Isaacs, Founder, Medik8.

With Inflexion’s backing, the brand has strengthened its digital capabilities and opened a 1,00,000 square feet innovation centre in the first year of the partnership, tripling research and development (R&D) and operational capacity.
