CCD’s Cafe Count Drops To 450 In FY24

The number of operational vending machines of Café Coffee Day (CCD) has increased to 52,581 in the financial year 2024 (FY24) from 48,788 in FY22-23

Witnessing a decline for the third consecutive financial year, the Coffee Day Global or CDGL’s flagship café chain brand Café Coffee Day’s (CCD) outlets count has dropped to 450 in FY24. CCD owned 495 cafes in FY21-22, which declined to 469 such outlets in FY22-23. As per the annual report of the Coffee Day Enterprises or CDEL, the number of CCD operational vending machines increased to 52,581 in FY24, from 48,788 in FY22-23.

The presence of CCD has also decreased to 141 cities in FY24, compared to 154 cities in FY22-23 and 158 cities in FY21-22. The number of CCD value express kiosks has also dipped to 265 in FY24, compared to 268 in FY23.

As per the annual report, the consolidated net operational revenue of CDEL increased to Rs 1,013 crore in FY24, marking a 9.63 per cent increase from Rs 924 crore in FY23. The company’s subsidiary CGGL also reported an increase in its net operational revenue during the year as the consolidated figure increased to Rs 966 crore in FY24, against Rs 869 crore in FY23.

However, the company’s consolidated net loss for the year attributable to shareholders stood at Rs 323 crore in FY24, compared with a loss of Rs 380 crore in the previous financial year. The company, in its annual report, stated that around 95 per cent of its consolidated revenue was contributed by the coffee business in FY24. This was followed by 4.9 per cent from hospitality and 0.1 per cent from other operations,

As far as the gross revenue of CDEL’s coffee business is concerned, the figure stood at Rs 966 crore in FY24, contributing 95 per cent to the consolidated topline, representing an increase of 11 per cent over 2022-23. Consolidated loss before tax was Rs 369 crore for FY 2023-24 compared to a loss of Rs 382 crore for the previous year FY 2022-23
