In line with its ongoing efforts to strengthen the senior management team, Godfrey Phillips India, a tobacco and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company has notified the appointment of Siddharth Chawla as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from 7 January 2025 or another mutually agreed-upon date.
According to the company, the appointment follows the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Chawla brings with him 24 years of experience and has held senior management and cross-functional leadership roles across various industries.
“We wish to inform you that on basis of recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of the Company have today i.e. on 26th December 2024 at 9.57 AM, approved the appointment of Siddharth Chawla as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Senior Management Personnel of the Company,” as stated by the company in a regulatory filing.
Chawla started his career with the FMCG major ITC as a management trainee in 2001 and rose to the position of Business Head-North India when he left it in 2019. Following his tenure at ITC, he worked for three years as Business Head of Non-Essentials with the ecommerce unicorn startup Udaan.
For the last two years, he has been working as Chief Growth Officer with Pharmarack Technologies, a e-business-to-business commerce platform for the pharmaceutical industry. In his previous stints, he has successfully developed and transformed go-to-market strategy, established new business systems and processes and supply chain networks, introduced multiple new categories and distribution channels.
As per the statement of the company, Chawla effectively managed large distributed teams in complex business environments and matrix structures during his previous stints.
