“As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of Indian commerce, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to innovation, empathy, and progress. Together, we can redefine the future—one solution at a time”, stated Livpure’s MD & CEO, Rakesh Kaul
In India, the rise of startups has ignited conversations about scalability and efficacy. Yet, amidst this entrepreneurial fervour lies a profound transformation in our cultural mindset—a shift that resonates deeply, particularly in our approach to sensitive issues like water.
Rakesh Kaul, Managing Director and CEO, Livpure imparted strategies and perspectives to young entrepreneurs.
Highlighting the gravity of India’s water crisis, Kaul underscored, “India, home to 17 per cent of the global population, has access to just 3 per cent of the world’s water resources. A staggering 92 per cent of this water is unfit for consumption.” He pointed out the acute shortages and compromised water quality faced by cities like Bangalore and Chennai, framing water access as a pressing concern.
Despite the urgency of the situation, the adoption of electric water purifiers in Indian household’s hovers at a mere 6 to 7 percent. Why? The answer lies not in lack of awareness, but in the practicalities of ownership. Highlighting the importance consumer needs Kaul emphasised on the pattern recognition of the particular issue as the key to problem solving.
Despite widespread awareness, the adoption of electric water purifiers remains low in Indian households, hovering at merely 6 to 7 percent, Kaul shared. He attributed this not to a lack of awareness but to practical ownership constraints. “Indians cherish their possessions, deriving pride from ownership. However, a seismic shift is underway, led by the younger generation—the millennials—who value access over ownership,” he emphasised.
In response to this shift, Livpure embarked on a transformative journey to redefine the consumer experience. Introducing a rental model priced affordably, Livpure provided a solution. “Our subscription-based economy model, complemented by free maintenance, moving and shifting services, has since welcomed over 10 million Indian customers,” he added.
He stressed the importance of recognizing consumer needs and patterns asserting, “If a consumer is not attracted to your product, it’s the loophole in the strategy fixing that will gain you the consumer.”
Kaul concluded with Livpure’s innovative approach and adaptability to changing consumer patterns. “Our success is not merely a testament to innovation but a celebration of our ability to understand and adapt to changing consumer patterns,” he said, encapsulating the essence of entrepreneurship—identifying challenges, envisioning solutions, and embracing change.
