Reliance Retail Pilots 30-45 Minute Grocery Delivery In Mumbai

JioMart’s new hyperlocal delivery service aims to partner with local kirana stores for faster fulfilment

Reliance Retail has launched a pilot program for immediate delivery of groceries and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in select areas of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, according to a report by the Economic Times. This quick delivery service is integrated into the JioMart app and is branded as a ‘hyperlocal delivery option.’

Unlike competitors who promise deliveries in 10-15 minutes, Reliance aims to reduce delivery times to 30-45 minutes as more stores are linked into the system. The company’s strategy focuses on partnering with local kirana stores to ensure quicker deliveries, rather than competing directly in the ultra-fast delivery space.

In areas with a limited network of Reliance stores, the company plans to collaborate with kirana stores enrolled in the JioMart Partner initiative. These local shops source their products from Reliance Retail’s wholesale division and are connected through its backend system.

For the fulfilment process and route optimisation, Reliance is leveraging technology platforms such as FYND and Locus. The company also has plans to eventually expand its hyperlocal delivery service to include apparel and electronic items.

This new initiative follows an earlier quick delivery pilot launched in Navi Mumbai last year, which was subsequently shelved.
