Marking its official foray into the country’s rapidly growing quick commerce sector, the ecommerce major Amazon has introduced its service, Amazon Now, across three pincodes in Bengaluru, as per the reports.

The reports noted that the service is available to select users as it is currently in beta mode. The company has set up 10 to 15 dark stores in the city to support deliveries. As per the report, the official introduction has been initiated following a series of internal pilots.

Amazon will be offering a curated selection of everyday essentials, and as far as the expansion plans are concerned, the reports highlighted that the company is looking to expand its footprint in the coming weeks. The users are currently able to order groceries, vegetables, beauty and personal care, and snacks, among other items.

The reports emphasised that to attract users, the company is already offering discounts and offers, with late-night charges and surge fees being waived off. Amazon had commenced the groundwork for its quick commerce entry last year.

The quick commerce space is facing intense competition from the players such as Blinkit, Instamart, Zepto. With other players making attempts to crack the rapid delivery code, the sector has been witnessing growth. As per a report by Bain and Company, in collaboration with Flipkart, quick commerce is projected to grow at over 40 per cent annually through 2030, driven by expansion across categories, geographies, and customer segments.
