The company has opened more than 100 micro-fulfilment centers across the three cities to enable faster deliveries with Amazon Now
After Bengaluru and Delhi, Amazon has now expanded its ten-minute delivery service Amazon Now to select parts in Mumbai. The company has opened more than 100 micro-fulfilment centers across the three cities to enable faster deliveries with Amazon Now and plans to open hundreds more by the end of the year.
The service offers a curated selection across daily essentials, including groceries, personal care, beauty products, electronic accessories, small appliances and last-minute festive needs, among others. Amazon Now is powered by strategically located micro-fulfilment centers. These centers position essential selection close to customer neighbourhoods, utilising advanced inventory systems that optimise product placement based on hyperlocal demand to maximise efficiency and speed with safety.
“We launched Amazon Now in Bengaluru earlier this year, delivering essentials in just ten minutes. The response has exceeded our most optimistic expectations, with daily orders growing at 25 per cent month over month and Prime members tripling their shopping frequency after they begin using Amazon Now. Driven by this success, we have expanded to over 100 micro-fulfilment centers and plan to add hundreds more across Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai,” highlighted Samir Kumar, Vice President (VP) and Country Manager, Amazon India.
Ahead of the upcoming festive season, Amazon has notified a major expansion of its operations network with the introduction of 12 new fulfilment centres (FCs) and the expansion of 6 FCs. This expansion adds a combined 8.6 million cubic feet of incremental storage capacity.
This expansion brings the first Amazon FC to five cities, including Hooghly, Tiruvallur, Krishnagiri, Visakhapatnam and Hubballi. The company also informed the setting up of six new sort centres (SCs) in Hubli, Trivandrum, Rajpura, Gorakhpur, Moradabad and Prayagraj with a combined area of 5,00,00 square feet.
