Crossword Projects Rs 400 Cr In Revenue For FY26, Eyes Expansion In Tier 2 cities

Crossword aims to increase its footprint to over 150 stores by the end of 2025

Marking a substantial increase over the past year with current revenue of Rs 275 crore, Crossword Bookstores, a bookstore chain has projected Rs 400 crore in revenue for the next financial year (FY26). This is driven by over 30 per cent growth rate, as the chain expands its presence across metros and tier 2 cities.

The company stated that the demand for curated bookstore experiences remains stronger than ever and it is responding with strategic expansion in key cities. As part of this growth strategy, Crossword will increase its footprint to over 150 stores by the end of 2025. It has opened new stores in Jamshedpur, with Delhi, Chennai, Siliguri and Hyderabad next in line.

Our goal is to reach 300 stores over the next five years, making Crossword an even more accessible and immersive destination for book lovers.” stated Aakash Gupta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Crossword Bookstores.

While focused on strengthening its footprint in India, Crossword is also exploring opportunities beyond national borders. The company stated that it is poised to redefine the bookstore experience for a wider audience. Crossword has been aiming to become a cultural hub—bringing readers, authors, and literary communities together. Over the years, it has hosted authors like Yuval Noah Harari, Ruskin Bond, David Walliams, Amish Tripathi, Twinkle Khanna, Sudha Murty among many others.
